Museum Complete8/6/2017 We are so excited to finally have the Franklin Railroad Depot Museum up and running out of the Baggage and Freight Room of our Historic 1909 Big Four Depot. As always this would not have been possible without our family and friends, we can never thank you enough.
We have been open for just over a week now and I have been amazed by the stories that have been shared with me by men and women from all walks of life that have such fond memories of the railroads of past and the great men and women who made them that way. I did not realize that there is such a large community of people who have a truly emotional attachment to the rails like my own family does; your stories have been truly inspiring to us and have made all of this hard work worth while. I have seen people walk out of the museum with a new spring in their step after remembering some distant memory about the rails. This is exactly why we preserved and restored this building, we will surely never get rich from this business in the monetary sense, but have been made much richer by the experiences you have shared with us. This museum is a gift from my family to yours, we truly hope we can educate the youth on the role of trains in the advancement of this great country, educate the general public about the continued importance of rail, and to provide you some great family friendly entertainment after enjoying some ice cream, delicious candy, and an ice cold soda out of a bottle just like the generations before us.
